Applicant Portal for Section 8 HCV & PBV Applicants

If you are interested in receiving DCHA housing assistance, you must first apply for admission to the housing program while the waiting list is open (our Section 8 waiting list is currently closed, and we cannot accept or distribute applications at this time). There are no residency requirements. However, DCHA gives priority to applicants who live, work, or attend school in Dane County (click here for more information about preferences).

Once you have submitted an application to DCHA, you may create an online account to help you manage your DCHA application(s). Applicant Portal allows you to:

  • view the wait list(s) you are currently on

    • please note that DCHA is currently working with our software company to fix a bug in Applicant Portal that is causing some applicants' applications to incorrectly show as having been withdrawn or to not show up at all.

  • review your application, including family, address, income, and asset information

  • submit requests for changes

  • request an update to available wait list preferences

Applicant Portal is one way to communicate with DCHA. There is no requirement to establish an Applicant Portal account. All changes may also be submitted in writing to DCHA by fax, e-mail, mail, or drop-off.

At this time, you cannot upload documentation or verifications to the portal. Documents can be submitted via mail, fax, e-mail, or drop-off. If you are on the waiting list, please ONLY submit preference documentation. Submission of other documentation, such as copies of social security cards or birth certificates, is not necessary while you are on the waiting list. DCHA cannot keep any non-preference documentation submitted by applicants, and it will be destroyed if submitted.
